The Wood: Only the finest Mediterranean briar from Tuscany and Algeria is used in Edwin pipes. The wood is fully cured when it arrives at my shop but then sits for an additional time for more aging before it is shaped.
The Stems: Edwin stems have been fitted with a delrin tenon. Delrin is a self-lubricating compound that keeps the tenon from sticking in the mortise while still keeping its snug fit. The stem material is made from the finest German vulcanite rubber, hand-carved for each individual pipe.
Precarbonizing: Edwin pipes come with precarbonized bowls. After experimenting with a number of carbon recipes, I’ve finally found the one that best treats the bowl to eliminate or greatly reduce the break-in period. Of course, if you wish to purchase a pipe without the precarbon treatment, simply let me know before the completion of the piece and I will happily leave the inside of the bowl bare wood.
Stamping: Every Edwin pipe is stamped with a logo stamp, a two digit year stamp, and a serial number. For example, this pipe pictured at left was made in 2013 and has a serial number of 6.
Included With the Pipe: Included with every Edwin Pipe is a carrying pouch and a signed certificate of authenticity.
Edwin Warranty: If you are not completely happy with your pipe, for any reason, simply return it unsmoked and in the original condition within 14 days for a full refund or exchange. Edwin pipes also carry a one year warranty against burnout or defects in material or craftsmanship unless otherwise noted on its ownership cerficicate.
