Behold! The finished product! The shank extension pipe is sold already. The customer is a collector from the club who purchases a pipe of the year (POY) every year but collects longer pipes. For a few extra dollars I created an extension to the POY he’d have his club POY as well as a pipe that will fit in his collection. You can see I’ve altered the shank slightly from the traditional POY so that once the stem is removed, the extension will fit in its place. The pic below shows the pipe in full.
Here you can see the unit put together. To get the length, I fused two blocks of briar together with an ebonit sliver between them (see previous posts). I was a little surprised at how labor intensive this project became.
