And here you see the outcome of yesterday’s project. On the long piece in the middle you can see the two blocks of briar (now rounded), with a disc of ebonite glued between them and another sliver of ebonite glued to the top (if this doesn’t make sense, see yesterday’s post). This will be a shank extension. It will allow you to use the pipe normally with the stem attached directly to the shank, or, if you decide to use the extension, it can be attached directly to the shank and then the stem attached to that.
