Sunday today and I have the whole day to work in the shop. In this pic you can see necessity is the mother of invention. This is my jig for drilling the tobacco chamber. The draft hole I drill on the lathe while holding the bowl but I’ve found a little more control this way when it comes to the larger bits.
As you can see when looking into the bowl, the drilling turned out perfectly. These are beginning to show their promise.
Now they’re taking shape. The one in the middle shows exceptionally good grain. Once the stems are heated and bent their true character will shine.
